Bandera Electric Cooperative Scholarship

Bandera Electric is committed to the leaders of tomorrow, and we encourage members and their children to work hard and follow their dreams. We offer scholarships to local high school and home-schooled graduating seniors and college students. BEC scholarships may be applied toward tuition, fees and expenses at any college, university, junior college, technical school or trade school

Each year, Bandera Electric awards ten $2,500 scholarships. Recipients of the scholarships will be chosen based on the following:

Financial necessity
Written essay
Participation in community/school activities
Winners are chosen by a scholarship committee made up of co-op members and are announced at local graduation and award ceremonies.

The scholarship program was established in 1999 by Bandera Electric Cooperative to encourage and assist in the educational pursuits of its members and their immediate families.  Since then, we have awarded $175,000 in scholarships!

Click here for the scholarship application, or come by the counseling office for a printed copy.

A completed application must be received/postmarked by 5 pm on Wednesday, March 1. Scholarship recipients will be notified by mail. Completed applications can be submitted by email, mail, or brought to one of BEC's four locations.

More scholarship opportunities can be found here.
