The Hill Country Sheep & Goat
Organization (formerly called the Texas Sheep and Goat Raisers Association
Auxiliary) has traditionally offered scholarships to graduating high school
seniors and continuing college students pursuing a college degree in
Agriculture.
It
is once again time to apply for the scholarship for the school term of fall,
2017.
This
year we offer three types of scholarships:
1) Students from Texas Hill Country Counties pursuing a degree
in Agriculture,
2) Students from throughout Texas who participated in the Make
It With Wool Contest. They do need to be accepted to a College,
University, or Trade school, but do not need to major in Agriculture, and
3) Students from throughout Texas who are the son or daughter
of a Texas State Trapper. They do need to be accepted to a College,
University, or Trade school, but do not need to major in Agriculture.
Time
is valuable to students and teachers alike, and the Committee strives to make
the application process as simple as possible.
All required
documentation, including transcripts, must be submitted at the same time,
and must be received by April 15, 2017. Any incomplete entries, or those
received after April 15 will not be considered.
This is a highly
competitive scholarship contest, with awards ranging from $250 to $2000 per
student. The application includes some questions reflecting financial
need, but it is most important to stress that the awards will be based on the
Committee's impression of each student as presented by their written essays.
References submitted with the application will be contacted for
verification.
