Do you plan to apply for financial aid through your college? If so, you must complete and submit a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). If you are a senior, sit down with your parents and review the step by step process at the FAFSA website (please notice that this is a .gov domain and not a .com, .net, etc. You should only trust information from the .gov site as there are multiple commercial sites that will attempt to charge you to complete this free form)
The FAFSA Forecaster is a good way to see if students/families will qualify for federal grant monies.
The CSS/Financial Aid Profile is an additional Financial Aid online application that collects information used by certain colleges and scholarship programs to award institutional aid funds. A list of colleges that requrie the CSS Profile can be found on the College Board website.
