Summer Opportunity: Texas A&M STARS Summer Enrichment Camp
STARS (Summer Training in Agriculture and Related Sciences) is a free, three-day summer enrichment camp hosted by the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences at Texas A&M University.

Summer Camp Opportunity: Texas A&M University College of Architecture
Can you visualize yourself as an architect? Want to construct your future as an Aggie? Camp ARCH is offered through the college of Architecture at Texas A&M University in partnership with the Youth Adventure Program operated through the Department of Educational Psychology.
Camp ARCH is designed to help students map out the blueprint to their college career by experiencing first-hand the professions that the College of Architecture has to offer. Open to students who will be entering their sophomore, junior, or senior year of high school, this residential one-week program allows participants to explore of career field of interest while experiencing the "studio environment" just as professionals would in a design or construction firm.
Date: July 9-15, 2017
Incoming sophomores, juniors, and seniors may apply.

Summer Camp Opportunity: University of Texas Global Ethics and Conflict Resolution Summer Symposium
The 2017 Global Ethics and Conflict Resolution Summer Symposium is a two week-long camp for high school students which explores the issues of ethics and conflict at all levels, from the personal to the international.
Students will develop critical and creative strategies needed for problem solving, conflict analysis, negotiation, and much more. They will experience life at the University of Texas while learning about the greater world we live in. Some of the activities they will be involved in are producing videos, debating ethical issues, learning to manage conflict, and meeting with distinguished artists, leaders, and faculty.

Scholarship: Kendall County 4-H Swine Club
The 2017 Kendall County 4-H Swine Club scholarship recognizes the achievements of high school seniors in their schools and/or communities. Deserving seniors may be awarded a $250 scholarship.
Who is eligible?
- Any high school senior graduating in Spring 2017 who is a legal US resident, residing in Kendall County, and a current member of Kendall County 4-H
- Seniors planning to further their education at an accredited two- or four-year college, university, or technical school (either public or private).

Scholarship Opportunity: Kendall County Republicans
The Kendall
County Republicans will award $1,500 to a qualified BHS graduate who has an interest in continuing their education and further pursuing a career in public policy. This scholarship is created for those who have volunteered their time and dedicated their efforts to promoting Republican ideals.

Scholarship Opportunity: Boerne Panhellenic
The Boerne Alumnae Panhellenic Scholarship is awarded to graduating senior women from Boerne or Comfort ISD who will be attending a four year university in the coming academic year. Boerne Panhellenic is a group of sorority women committed to the purpose of friendship, leadership, scholarship, and service to others. The scholarships are awarded based on these purposes.

Scholarship Opportunity: Texas Hospitality Association
All graduating seniors can apply to receive one of multiple scholarships
that Texas Hospitality Association is offering. The scholarship has absolutely
no prerequisites, so anyone can apply regardless of ethnicity, economic
background, or extracurricular activities. The four scholarships being given
away are in the amount of $5,000, $2,500, $1,500, and $1,000.
Applicants must create a poster than promotes awareness
about underage drinking. The theme of the poster must be: "If you are
under the age of 21, it is illegal to consume or purchase alcohol from the

No resume is required,
and the selection process is "blind," therefore the only thing looked
at is the poster itself.

9TH GRADE ATHLETIC INFORMATION
Athletic Paperwork – All required athletic forms are on the BHS athletics webpage.
Camps – All camp dates will be on the Boerne High School Athletics web page. The camp paperwork will be available on the Greyhound Athletic Booster Club website. This information will be finalized early this spring and will be available at that time.
Volleyball – The tryout date is 8/1/17. Their practices will begin on 8/1/17. The first scrimmage is 8/4/17. Their athletic period is single blocked for their first year for 5th period.
Cross Country – Pre-season conditioning begins June 5th at Cibolo Park, 7:30 a.m. Monday through Saturday. Official season begins and tryouts will be 8/1/17. Athletic period is blocked for 1st period.
Girls Basketball – Tryout dates are during the first few days of the school year. They will begin practicing during the athletic period when school starts. Their athletic period is single blocked for 5th period. Volleyball players may try out during the first 2 days following volleyball season.
Boys Basketball – Tryouts begin on the first day of school. They will begin practicing during the athletic period when school starts. Their athletic period is single blocked for 3rd period. Football players may try out after football season ends.
Baseball – Tryout dates are the last Friday in January. Freshmen baseball players will not be enrolled in an athletic period. They will only practice after school during baseball season. If a freshman makes the varsity team and is a straight baseball player, he can move into the baseball period.
Golf – You must play in three summer tournaments to qualify for tryouts. Please see the BHS golf webpage for tryout information or contact Coach McHone. Their athletic period is single blocked for 4th period. They will begin practice on the first day of school.
Softball – Practice will begin during the second week of school during the 8th period softball class. Cuts will be made based on safety reasons by the end of the second week of school. Try-outs for the junior varsity vs. varsity team will be 1/19 and 1/22.
Track – Practices will be either before or after school depending on track availability. Practice begins in mid-January. Track athletes are not enrolled in an athletic period. They only practice during track season.
Boys Soccer – Athletic period will be 1st or 5th (TBD). Varsity soccer tryout dates are during the first 2 weeks of school during the soccer class period. If they do not make the varsity, they will be removed from the soccer class and placed into another class. JV tryouts will be in November.
Football – Football practice begins 8/7/17. Freshman athletic period is single blocked. Athletic periods for football will be: 3rd period (Freshmen), 4th period (JV and Varsity), 8th period (JV and Varsity)

Tennis – The tryout dates are 8/7/17 – 8/11/17. The Varsity practices will begin on 8/14/17. JV practices will begin on the first day of school. Their athletic period is single blocked. JV tennis is 4th period. Varsity is 8th period.
Swim & Dive – Swimming tryouts will be held August 28th through 31st, 2017 at the Boerne City Pool. Athletic period will be 1st period beginning Wednesday, August 30th.

Texas Tech University's L.E.A.D. Leadership Education & Development Program
Registration is now open for Camp L.E.A.D., Texas
Tech University's leadership education and development program, which takes
place August 1-4, 2017. During this program, students will
participate in activities ranging from individualized leadership sessions to
group challenges and team-building activities. Your students will also have an
opportunity to explore Texas Tech through an official campus tour and in-depth
sessions with their intended field of study.
Transportation, housing and curriculum materials are provided at no cost to students admitted into the program.
Admission to Camp L.E.A.D. is highly selective. Students should apply and submit documentation regarding their leadership abilities no later than the given deadline. To be considered, students must meet the following requirements:
- Grade
Level: must be an incoming high school senior in the Fall of
2017.
- Academic
Performance: student's high school counselor must submit a form
regarding their academic performance. Students are also asked to
self-report their ACT/SAT scores.
- Community
Involvement: must be an active member of your community and
involved in extracurricular activities.
- Leadership: must have a proven desire to be a leader.
